I am 1/12th done with my time in country. A colleague measures his time as if it were a seven day week, even though he has been here for a number of months. He is leaving in August and considers that he is in the Friday portion of his tour. I am obsessed with any way of marking my time because my sense of time is so warped by a seven day work schedule. Consider this my Monday morning breakfast.

A few quotes from ODAT Al-Anon that have helped me from time to time. The slogan One Day At A Time... I would put aside critical thoughts of others. I would notice interesting things--the expressions on peoples faces...an arrangement of clouds. Today there are wonders all around me, if I will open my eyes and enjoy them. Just for Today...let me not be so preoccupied with thoughts of my grievances and troubles that today's good can escape me. Today I can begin a new way of using my minutes and hours, a new way of looking at my surroundings and the circumstances of my life. I will make this day one I can look back upon with pleasure and satisfaction.....live through the one day only....future days can be faced as they arise.
